張賢勝去年因不積極參與見面會及團體活動受到粉絲批評，2月透過官方粉絲團及經紀公司的社群網站道歉。
不過，3月又因沒出席在澳門舉行的家族演唱會，再度傳出退出傳言，當時經紀公司仍極力否認他要退團。
經紀公司表示他退團理由是與其它5名成員的性格差異，說:“張賢勝和其它5名成員，彼此對音樂的見解不同，我司一直有在跟他們溝通。他們花了很長的時間考慮，最後決定與張賢勝說再見。”
張賢勝退出團體後，未來將以solo歌手發展，經紀公司表示:“張賢勝未來不以BEAST成員活動，將以solo歌手發展，集中精神在創作個人音樂。”
